Hey, thanks for tuning in to another Partner Interview at EcomBalance. At EcomBalance, we’re all about creating win-win partnerships where we are able to grow with other companies in the eCommerce space.

In this exclusive interview, we interview Amy Wees from Amazing at Home.

Amy Wees is the CEO of Amazing at Home E-Commerce Consulting, an internationally acclaimed company that assists thousands of brands in launching their private label products on Amazon and other marketplaces.

Not only is Amy a wealth of knowledge with product development, sourcing, marketing and sales, but she also co-founded the only multi-category tradeshow in LATAM

Her courses and consulting have been highly rated in Amazon seller polls as some of the best in the world. To share her expertise and success strategies, Amy teaches classes at business organizations locally in San Antonio, Texas, coaches entrepreneurs around the globe through virtual coaching sessions, and hosts in-person events. She also covers these topics on her weekly podcast The Seller Round Table.

Connor: Hey Amy, thanks for taking the time to chat with us here. We love getting to know our partners better so that our community can benefit from what our partners are offering and doing in the industry. To get started, can you give us a high level overview of Amazing At Home and how it got started?

Amy: Sure, thanks for having me! Amazing at home is an e-commerce consulting and copywriting firm. We also offer courses on private label and marketing. We got started as an online community back in 2017 when I invented a product and found the process really tough. There wasn’t really a road map for inventing a product from scratch and bringing it to market. There were a lot of invention companies scamming people. This frustrated me, so I was determined to figure it out and share with anyone who would listen. To raise money to pay for my injection molds, I also started copywriting. I have a background in cyber security so “hacking the algorithm” came very naturally to me. I posted jobs on Fiverr and I was finding new keywords for listings and helping people sell out of saturated products. Those people started asking to consult with me and before I knew it I had a thriving community and business to match.

Connor: That’s awesome! Can you dive a bit more into the coaching, e-learning resources, and services that you offer? I’m sure our audience would love to know exactly what problems you could solve for them.

Amy: Sure! We have a 60-hour step by step graduate level course called Concept to Launch. My course is unlike anything else in the space in that we cover every step along the way at an advanced level. The very first classes teach you what numbers are necessary for success, and why. Then we show you how to validate your product research so you can move forward with confidence. For sourcing, we don’t just teach you how to go on Alibaba and filter search results, we actually teach product development and how to find, vet and negotiate with your suppliers. Finally, we show you how to set up your business operations, make your first hires, and most importantly – step by step how to launch your product on Amazon including setting up your listing, PPC and Google ads. I also have a marketing course called “It’s Time to Brand” which teaches you how to build your brand off of Amazon, and a few other courses on various subjects related to business operations.

My coaching focuses on the same areas, I can help you any step along the path from concept to launch.
Finally, we started as a copywriting firm, and we still deliver awesome listings. We’re very proud of our 7 step conversion process and page one results. We also use AI to make customers listings even better!

Connor: Jumping off of that…if there was one problem you’d say that Amazing At Home solves best for your clients, what would it be? Why?

Amy: I would say we are problem solvers and fixers. The most common response I get from new clients after their first coaching session is “Finally I have the answer to this problem! I wish I would have found you earlier.” I’ve been selling on Amazon since 2007. I’ve worked with clients in nearly every product category, and there aren’t many new problems where I don’t have an answer. So, if you’re stuck anywhere in the process of building your e-Commerce business, rest assured we can help.

Connor: As the company continues to grow over the next year, what are your plans for expansion? Any new products or offerings or enhancements to your current products?

Amy: We will be doing more training, workshops, and events. In May we’re hosting an AI Business Summit, every month we host meetups in Texas, and we’ve got sourcing trips coming up to China, Jordan, and Mexico, as well as my tradeshow in Mexico called EvoLatam. This is the only multi-category tradeshow in Latin America!

Connor: And how specifically would you say that Amazing At Home and your team is different from other similar businesses in the industry?

Amy: I’d say the key difference is that I’m a seller. There aren’t that many service providers out there who offer what I offer and still sell on Amazon themselves. I think it’s important as a consultant to stay in the game. I’d also say my training courses are the most in-depth in the industry. I was an instructor in the US Air Force for 18 years. I know how to break down hard stuff and make it easy to understand. If you come to Amazing at Home with problems, I guarantee we have solutions.

Connor: What made you decide to get involved in e-learning and coaching for eCommerce? What’s your starting eCommerce story? From what we’ve found, a lot of business owners in a similar space have fun stories of how they first started…

Amy: First of all, I never thought I’d be a business consultant or copywriter! But I’ve always been a problem solver. I thrive at figuring things out. As I explained earlier, I invented this product to solve my own problem of cleaning the cat litter box. I’ve always had ideas and documented them in little notebooks over the years. Pinterest was my idea first, lol. Even in the military, I always had a side hustle. I’m really good at learning new things to a level where I can teach them. And I actually really enjoy teaching and helping others. During the invention and launch process, every time I learned something new, I’d go live and share it. People started following me and they couldn’t believe I was giving all of this information away for free. I didn’t care about earning money from it, I just wanted to help people who were on the same path as I was. As many entrepreneurs have discovered over the years, money just follows passion.

Connor: Love it! Talking more about the eCommerce industry, where do you see it going in the next 1-2 years? Any unique predictions that you could share?

Amy: The introduction of AI is going to drive massive changes in e-commerce and beyond. It’s going to change literally every step in the process from concept to launch. E-commerce platforms will change, and sellers will need to learn this new technology or eat the dust to their competition. I’m already using AI everyday across all of my businesses and it’s helping me reduce processes that used to take me weeks down to hours. I’m training my team on this technology so we can work smarter and not harder. I’m integrating AI into my product development process and also into my coaching calls. AI is evolving so rapidly that it’s very hard to predict what e-commerce could look like in a few years, but it’s very exciting to think about!

Connor: Giving you an open mic for a minute, what is something you’d want the EcomBalance audience to hear?

Amy: I would say know your numbers, but they’re here at EcomBalance so they’re already in a great place for that. So, I’ll instead remind them that success is 80% mindset and 20% effort. This is Amy Wees giving you permission to do anything you want to do with your life. You can accomplish anything you put your mind to, but only if you believe you can.

Connor: Changing gears a little bit…When it comes to bookkeeping and accounting, what do you think the biggest pain points for business owners are? Feel free to speak from personal experience as well.

Amy: I start nearly every coaching call by going over the numbers with my clients. I want to know if they have a profitable and scalable business, and that starts with understanding their overhead and their profit. Sadly, most business owners do not know their numbers. Some of them don’t even know that they are losing money with every sale. Understanding your numbers and knowing how to calculate your unit economics is a game changer for any business. Having an accountant and bookkeeper that can communicate where your money is going so that you know what percentages are holding you back or driving your success, is absolutely crucial to growing your business. Finally, a lesson from my own mistake. Ensure that you hire an accountant that knows e-commerce. I hired a local accountant who did my taxes completely wrong for 2 years and that really cost my business. Your accountant should specialize in your industry because the numbers are different, and it matters.

Connor: As we close this out, I just have one more question. Where is the best place to find and follow you and the company online? Also, if you have one, is there any special offer that you’ll be offering to the community today?

Amy: Sure! You can find us online at amazingathome.com and you can follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn at @amazingathome
Also, join our Facebook community for sellers

I would also love to offer your audience a free listing review. They can submit any Amazon listing for my review at amazingathome.com/listing-review and I will personally review it by sharing my screen and creating a video for them giving them confidential feedback on where they can improve. I just love reviewing listings!
