Hey, thanks for tuning in to another Partner Interview at EcomBalance. At EcomBalance, we’re all about creating win-win partnerships where we are able to grow with other companies in the eCommerce space.

In this exclusive interview, we interview Sachi Dalmia from PushOwl, a web push notification app that helps e-commerce brands within the Shopify space to send web push notifications to their customers.

Sachi ensures that partners and merchants find success with PushOwl, helping them unlock their full potential. I have experience in customer success, retention strategy and you will always find me advising merchants on the best web-push hacks.

Connor: Hey Sachi, thanks for taking the time to chat with us here. We love getting to know our partners better so that our community can benefit from what our partners are offering and doing in the industry. To get started, can you give us a high-level overview of PushOwl and how it got started?

Sachi: Founded in 2016, PushOwl helps e-commerce brands within the Shopify space to send web push notifications to their customers. We currently have over 25,000 merchants that use our tool, including the likes of Sugar Cosmetics, Culture Kings and Lange Beauty.

Connor: That’s awesome! Can you dive a bit more into the web push notifications products that you offer? I’m sure our audience would love to know exactly what problems you could solve for them.

Sachi: PushOwl is a web push marketing app built for e-commerce businesses. We let you turn one-time store visitors into repeat customers with highly visible web push notifications.

Using the app, you can collect store visitors as subscribers without requiring their

personal details such as email IDs or phone numbers, send promotions about your sale and products, segment subscribers to send personalized messages, recover abandoned carts through automated notifications, and successfully increase customer retention.

Connor: Jumping off of that…if there was one problem you’d say that PushOwl solves best for your customers, what would it be? Why?

Sachi: We all know how high the cart abandonment rate is in the ecommerce industry. Stores have no information on 80% of the visitors who abandon their cart. Also, stores can’t rely on Facebook and Instagram retargeting anymore (more on this here). Web push notifications allow you to reach out to these anonymous visitors, helping you recover your cart with highly-visible web push notifications that appear right on the visitor’s device screen.

Connor: As the company continues to grow over the next year, what are its plans for expansion? Any new products or offerings or enhancements to your current products that are coming down the pipeline?

Sachi: We want to enable merchants to get the most bang for their buck through web push notifications. Since it’s a new channel, there isn’t enough guidance or framework of what success looks like with web push marketing. Our upcoming features and enhancements would focus on this.

Connor: And how specifically would you say that PushOwl and your team is different from other similar businesses and apps in the industry?

Sachi: PushOwl is the only Shopify Plus certified web push notification app. Only 79 other apps get the privilege to be called Shopify Plus certified. This means we’ve built our systems to have the capacity to send billions of notifications a day. Beside this, our delivery rate is the highest among our competitors. We also have robust features such as browse abandonment and segmentation so that merchants can personalize their marketing and drive the best results.

Connor: What made PushOwl decide to get involved in the space? What’s the company’s starting eCommerce story? From what we’ve found, a lot of business owners in the space have fun stories of how they first started…

Sachi: Shashank, our founder started PushOwl as a side project without any expectations of it turning into something big. However, when he met the heads of Shopify India, Varghav Bakshi and Namra Deka, he realized there wasn’t a web push solution within the space and understood the potential that ecommerce businesses could leverage with this channel. This is when he pivoted to the ecommerce space specifically Shopify and the rest as you know it.. is history.

Connor: Love it! Talking more about the eCommerce industry, where do you see it going in the next 1-2 years? Any unique predictions that you could share?

Sachi: Communicating with your customers isn’t as straightforward anymore. Many brands have realized this and are moving into an intent-based marketing approach. Earlier, marketing was all about sharing a promotion and just informing the customer but now, store owners are making it more of a two-way conversation, ensuring it’s more human and personalized to what the customers want rather than what the store wants to push out.

Connor: Giving you an open mic for a minute, what is something you’d want the EcomBalance audience to hear?

Sachi: Trends and apps will continuously come and go, but it’s crucial to not get caught up in the rat-race of what everyone is doing. Instead prioritize the needs of your customers and design your experience according to your target audience rather than the next big idea that everyone’s doing.

Connor: Changing gears a little bit…When it comes to bookkeeping and accounting, what do you think the biggest pain points for eCommerce business owners are? Feel free to speak from personal experience as well.

Sachi: Every business wants to focus on their product and customer experience without having to worry about bookkeeping and accounting. I feel a lot of owners realize it too late that their books aren’t in order and have to go through added effort to get everything in order. One of the foundational routines you need to set up at the start of your business is having a system for managing your accounts.

Connor: As we close this out, I just have one more question. Where is the best place to find and follow you and the company online? Also, if you have one, is there any special offer that you’ll be offering to the community today?

Sachi: You can follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. You can also always visit pushowl.com and chat with us— be it about web push notifications or suggestions on what to watch next on Netflix (there are no bots, I promise).
