We hope that you enjoy the interview and that it brings value to you as an eCommerce business owner.
Connor: Hey Kamal, thanks for taking the time to chat with us here. We love getting to know our partners better so that our community can benefit from what our partners are offering and doing in the industry. To get started, can you give us a high-level overview of AMZ One Step and how it got started?
Kamal: Thanks Connor, AMZ One Step helps Amazon brands with creatives and advertising needs. The company has been around for over 5 years now. We are based out of Edmonton, Canada. We have studios in China, USA, UK, and Canada. We work with wide range of brands on Amazon, and we specialize in increasing conversion rates.
I started this company 2017 and met with my other business partners along the way. Now we are a team of over 150 people. I was an Amazon seller myself and I sold my Amazon brand in 2018. Recently I acquired a new Amazon brand and one of our competitors who provide similar services.
Connor: That’s awesome! Can you dive a bit more into the products and services that you offer to optimize listings and assure seller success? I’m sure our audience would love to know exactly what problems you could solve for them.
Kamal: Mainly, we look at the holistic approach when it comes to the conversion boost. We do product photography, A+ content, Amazon videos, copywriting. If you need models or a special location, we can cater that for FBA sellers. Over the years, we have developed exact strategies that can increase the traffic and conversions sucks as label it strategy for your main image and the concept of visual references for the conversions.
Connor: Jumping off of that…if there was one problem you’d say that AMZ One Step solves best for your clients, what would it be? Why?
Kamal: I would say top quality creatives that are affordable and will produce results for you. Our turnaround time is really fast as compared to others. I have seen Amazon sellers changing freelancers every quarter because they do not get the results they want. So we are a one stop and sellers woudnt have to go anywhere else.
Connor: As the company continues to grow over the next year, what are your plans for expansion? Any new products or offerings or enhancements to your current products?
Kamal: Yes, We just acquired one of our competitors. The plan is to grow both companies together. Other than that we are very focused on just one service that is creatives and keep getting better at it.
Connor: And how specifically would you say that AMZ One Step and your team is different from other similar businesses in the industry?
Kamal: We are a small business but we have managed to scale our operations in 6 different countries providing us with very diverse culture and ability to scale quicker.
Connor: What made you decide to get involved in the Amazon listing optimization space? What’s your starting eCommerce story? From what we’ve found, a lot of business owners in the space have fun stories of how they first started…
Kamal: Somehow, I discovered that people can sell on Amazon and make money off it. I did some research on YouTube and started doing retail arbitrage. That led me to believe that it is possible to make living just by selling on Amazon. So, I started my own private label brand.
I was organizing meetups in the city of Edmonton and a lot of people were asking me about who optimizes my listings and I was referring them to the freelancers. Eventually I started my own agency.
Connor: Love it! Talking more about the eCommerce industry, where do you see it going in the next 1-2 years? Any unique predictions that you could share?
Kamal: I think it will continue to grow. Amazon is an Ecommerce giant and a very customer obsessed company. Covid has shifted consumer’s mindset now and they really enjoy the luxury of ordering from home and getting their product in a day or two.
Connor: Giving you an open mic for a minute, what is something you’d want the EcomBalance audience to hear?
Kamal: I would say just focus on your goals and stay consistent. Don’t just optimize your listings, optimize your profit margins as well with EcomBalance.
Connor: Changing gears a little bit…When it comes to bookkeeping and accounting, what do you think the biggest pain points for business owners are? Feel free to speak from personal experience as well.
Kamal: Biggest pain point for business owners is that they do not have accurate numbers every month where they can make calculate decisions. Most of the time business owners miss taxes, miscellaneous expenses, refunds, etc in their calculations. It is really important to have the numbers end of the month so that you know where you are going. We are using EcomBalance and it has made our life easier.
Connor: As we close this out, I just have one more question. Where is the best place to find and follow you and the company online? Also, if you have one, is there any special offer that you’ll be offering to the community today?
Kamal: You can find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @amzonestep
