Hey, thanks for tuning in to another Partner Interview at EcomBalance. At EcomBalance, we’re all about creating win-win partnerships where we are able to grow with other companies in the eCommerce space.

In this exclusive interview, we interview Ephraim Ausch from Tactical Logistics, a full-service, end-to-end supply chain provider.

Ephraim has more than a decade of eCommerce experience. He originally founded a small boutique online called Benevelo Gifts, which sold corporate holiday gifts. When the company grew, he outsourced it to a specialty co-packer and sold it in 2017. Following his success as a seller, Ephraim’s passion is now to support others’ success  in the eCommerce world as well. He does this, as the Chief Logistics Officer at Tactical Logistic Solutions, an end-to-end logistics provider that helps sellers focus on what matters to them most by providing all their logistic needs.

We hope that you enjoy the interview and that it brings value to you as an eCommerce business owner.

Connor: Hey Ephraim, thanks for taking the time to chat with us today. As a company, one of our goals is to highlight our partners so that our clients can benefit where it makes most sense. To get started, can you give us a high-level introduction to Tactical Logistics and a little bit about how the company got started?

Ephraim: Tactical Logistics is an end-to-end logistics provider for Amazon sellers. I started selling on Amazon in 2010 and sold for 7 years before I joined Tactical in 2017. Given my experience, I knew there was a need for a logistic provider that had not only logistics expertise but also knew the ins and outs of Amazon. So we leaned into that niche here at Tactical and adapted our business to meet the needs of Amazon sellers.

Connor: Thanks for sharing that! Can you dive a bit more into the products and services that you offer to help clients with world-class supply chain management functions? Our audience is always looking for reputable companies that they can lean on for specific parts of their eCommerce businesses.

Ephraim: We do it all! We provide Freight forwarding, Air Freight, Customs Clearance, Cargo Insurance, Port Pickups LCL and FCL, 3PL prep, Warehousing, and deliveries into Amazon FBA Centers with our own carriers and Amazon appointments.

Connor: Jumping off of that…when you’re thinking about your ideal customer, who is that? Where are they selling online? Where are they located in the world? How much sales do they typically have in a year? If there’s any other qualities, please include them as well. We’re all about making introductions where it benefits both parties.

Ephraim: Mainly Amazon FBA and Walmart 3rd Party sellers they can be located anywhere in the world and do 7+ figures online.

Connor: For our audience to truly understand what makes you stand out from other companies in the logistics space, can you share a story of how Tactical Logistics truly helped one of its customers?

Ephraim: During Covid, we had a customer reach out who had products sitting for over 2 months with another 3PL. They had ran out of stock, which killed their product ranking. When we stepped in, we were able to get their product picked up and delivered to the right FBA center within 48 hours. They were very pleased with our turnaround time and were able to get back to selling efficiently on Amazon.

Connor: As you and your company think about the next year ahead, what does it look like? Are there any specific initiatives that you’re working on as a team to better your product or service for your customers?

Ephraim: Tactical is looking to be fully digital by the end of 2023. Currently our warehouse system is completely digital through our customer portal. Our Freight Forwarding will start beta in September and our Trucking division will go live by the end of Q2 of 2023.

Connor: How about this…everyone loves a company’s growth story. We all naturally go through ups and downs as a company. What was one of the biggest challenges that the company faced in its growing stages?

Ephraim: Our biggest challenge was, and still is, keeping up with all the Amazon policy changes to make sure we are complying and that we have the right solutions for our customers as the changes occur. Another hurdle was getting through Covid; our labor force was hit hard and keeping up with the demand required us to adapt.

Connor: Thanks! Let’s talk some eCommerce! Where do you see the industry heading in the next 1-2 years? Any big changes that you’re predicting for the industry? How can eCommerce companies prepare for it?

Ephraim: I’m not an economist, or God, so I can’t predict the future. But, I believe we are going to have a tough year for eCommerce as we are struggling with inflation, fuel, and other supply chain issues. To prepare we must know our cost across the board, when purchasing a new product be strategic, don’t just purchase because you think you can sell. Also do not purchase based off of Covid numbers, I would recommend purchasing based of pre-Covid numbers and slowly grow from there as economists predict that eCommerce will grow to over 30% of the retail market within the next 5 to 10 years.

Connor: Changing gears a little bit…When it comes to bookkeeping and accounting, what do you think the biggest pain points for eCommerce business owners are? Feel free to speak from personal experience as well.

Ephraim: I’ve learned that business owners don’t always know what their costs are when selling which often leads to pricing products incorrectly on Amazon. This can really kill profitability.

Connor: Okay, here’s an open mic opportunity. If there’s one thing that you’d want the EcomBalance community to hear from you, what would it be?

Ephraim: This one is for Amazon sellers, if there’s any service that you could outsource with more expertise than you, the seller, DO IT! You focus on growing your brand, that is your expertise as a seller.

Connor: As we close this out, I just have one more question. Where is the best place to find and follow you and the company online? Also, if you have one, is there any special offer that you’ll be offering to the community today?
