Partner Spotlight: Protecting Your Assets with Ashlin Hadden from Ashlin Hadden Insurance

Hey, thanks for tuning in to another Partner Interview at EcomBalance. At EcomBalance, we’re all about creating win-win partnerships where we are able to grow with other companies in the eCommerce space.

 

 

In this exclusive interview, we interview Ashlin Hadden from Ashlin Hadden Insurance teaching business to protect what they have worked so hard to build.

 

Ashlin believes that the Insurance business was built on a firm handshake, a stiff drink, swanky offices, and dare I say it? — on the golf course. This industry was built by strong men, and they did a good job in leading the way for strong women to take their place alongside them. Ashlin has been in the financial/insurance industry for over 15 years. She left the banking industry and has been working exclusively in insurance for over 7 years. Originally an Agent for Liberty before she took a leap of faith and decided to go out on her own Ashlin has found her place in the E-commerce industry.

 

Working with clients from all over the country Ashlin fights to help protect their most valuable assets. Although licensed to sell all personal, commercial and life insurance, her real passion is for E-commerce sellers.

 

Ashlin has spoken at several conferences the past year and is very excited to help educate clients on their risks and how to protect them.

Connor: Hey Ashlin, thanks for taking the time to chat with us here. We love getting to know our partners better so that our community can benefit from what our partners are offering and doing in the industry. To get started, can you give us a high level overview of Ashlin Hadden Insurance and how it got started? 

 

Ashlin: I have been in the insurance industry for over 11 years. I started in home and auto insurance and had a client come to me about 5 years ago and ask about ecom insurance. I had no idea what ecom insurance was or that there was even 3rd party sellers on Amazon. I tried for months to find carriers that would help. Most carriers don’t like ecom sellers because they sell anything and everything. Lol. So after months and months of working with carriers, I was finally able to start a few relationships with carriers. We now are over 5 years into ecom insurance and I have over 32 carriers now that I work with. We were the first one to market and the best ecom team out there. 

 

Connor: That’s awesome! Can you dive a bit more into the products and services that you offer? I’m sure our audience would love to know exactly what problems you could solve for them. 

 

Ashlin: The biggest problem we solve for ecom sellers is to protect what they have worked so hard to build. #AshlinProtectsMyAssets was born out of this problem. We want our clients to wake up in the morning and KNOW that we have them protected. We help all sellers with General Liability and Product Liability. That means we help protect what they do and say as a business and what protects the products that they sell. We also do all types of insurance for business owners like workers comp, commercial auto insurance, life insurance, home & auto and even cargo etc. 

 

Connor: Jumping off of that…if there was one problem you’d say that Ashlin Hadden Insurance solves best for your clients, what would it be? Why? 

 

Ashlin: We help get clients the RIGHT coverage to protect their businesses AND to get compliant with Amazon for those people selling on Amazon. We try to educate people on the coverages as not all carriers are the same. There are carriers out there that say they will get you insurance for $25 a month and some carriers don’t even cover the legal fees. So we work with clients to find the right coverage for their budgets. 

 

Connor: As the company continues to grow over the next year, what are your plans for expansion? Any new products or offerings or enhancements to your current products? 

 

Ashlin: We have grown from a small 1 person shop to a 7 member team. We continue to grow our insurance products to meet the needs of our clients. We are working on streamlining cargo insurance and suspension insurance. We are launching our VIP program in the coming weeks. This program will give our clients access to tons of discounts service providers. We keep looking for ways to give back to our family. 

 

Connor: And how specifically would you say that Ashlin Hadden Insurance and your team is different from other similar businesses in the industry?

 

Ashlin: The biggest difference is that we have been in the industry from the beginning. We are involved in the community and have been to hundreds of conferences to learn the in and outs of the ecom industry. We always say “We want to know what you know but not do what you do.” We are NOT sellers and we feel it’s a conflict of interest to be sellers. So the Ashlin Hadden Insurance Team are not allowed to be active sellers. We believe that you work so hard to source and we want our family to know that your secrets are safe with us. We also are brokers so we work with over 32 carriers. We know each of these carriers strengths and weaknesses and help our clients choose the right carrier. 

 

Connor: What made you decide to get involved in the space? What’s your starting eCommerce story? From what we’ve found, a lot of business owners in the space have fun stories of how they first started…

 

Ashlin: I was in the banking industry first. I was moving and wanted to try something different. A friend told me that an insurance carrier was hiring. I was NOT interested in selling insurance but she got some bonus if I took the interview. So I did. During my interview the gentleman who was interviewing me said “This is a man’s industry and those men will out sell you every day.” So I said I would take the job and prove him wrong. So I did!

 

Connor: Love it! Talking more about the eCommerce industry, where do you see it going in the next 1-2 years? Any unique predictions that you could share? 

 

Ashlin: I think the ecom industry is going to continue to just burst! I think lots of people love shopping online because of the convenience of it. In the insurance industry we are going to continue to work to get new coverages. Unfortunately the insurance industry is very SLOW moving so it does take some time. But my team is actively working on getting new coverages for suspension, cargo insurance, and group health insurance. 

 

Connor: Giving you an open mic for a minute, what is something you’d want the EcomBalance audience to hear?

 

Ashlin: I want your audience to know that not all insurance are the same. There are a lot of people that are trying to come to the table now and they are far less inferior in coverages. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!
